"Are we sure we packed everything? Ok, lets go" (pull out of driveway and drive down the street) "Oh wait, where is my cell phone? I think I left it on the roof of the car" (stop car and look on roof) "its not there, lets drive back and see if it fell off somewhere on the street" (drive back to house very slowly while scanning the road for my cell phone) "oh there it is!"
Our official road trip started on the morning of June 1st after scrambling to get everything done. We actually didn't receive our visas until May 31st so we were sweating bullets on that one a little bit. We sold stuff on craigslist, had a garage sale, crammed a storage unit full of stuff and packed Liz's little Golf full of our belongings we will be taking to Ecuador... and left my cell phone on the roof.
The first stop of our road trip was to spend a few days in Minnesota visiting my friends. As soon as we got to my friend Alan's, we unloaded our bags, and drove to Lake Calhoun to go for a bike ride around the lakes. We just spent 2 days driving in the car and were anxious to get out and stretch our legs a little. On our way to the bike shop to rent bikes, we saw a "nice bike" kiosk where you can rent bikes by the hour. Done. For the next 3 days, we met friends, ate, drank beverages, drove somewhere else, repeat.
