This is my first blog here. I'm hoping to use this to keep my friends and family (especially those few that are not on Facebook) updated on my move to Ecuador for 2 years. I hope you enjoy my journey with me.
The mission, should you choose to accept...
is to infiltrate the FCAQ network, capture key targets, and gather intel. Your cover will be of a cultural exchange teacher. Your operative will be code named "polola." Good luck Asian Invasion.
Mission Status: Not yet activated
So I'm a high school teacher in Colorado who will be moving to Quito, Ecuador for 2 years to teach at the American School of Quito (Fundacion Colegio Americano de Quito). This is an international school where the majority of the students are Ecuadorian (the wealthy) but there will be students from many different nations there (expats, diplomats, families there on business, etc). I will be teaching high school Biology, in English. This is not my first time living overseas, I completed my student teaching at an international school in Korea and studied abroad in Costa Rica. And some of you might not know, I was actually born in South Korea and lived there till I moved to the U.S. at the age of 9.
The school year doesn't start till late August but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to move down there earlier and travel around. No definite plans yet but I'm thinking a trip to the Galapagos Islands, a hike to Macchu Picchu in Peru (did this in 2003 but definitely looking forward to it again), and possibly some traveling in Colombia as well. And lots of surfing in between. I will be joined on this mission by my adventurous "polola" Liz (polola is what they refer to their girlfriends in Chile and something I'm definitely wearing out already). More mission details to come as they are formulated.
I can't wait!!
